A Kenyan Pastor visited the Cayman Islands in 2006 and made a desperate plea for water on behalf of the people of Turkana. With funds raised by individuals, churches, and other organizations in the Cayman Islands, a team of three missionaries from the Church of God Chapel in West Bay, Grand Cayman, visited Turkana to assist and oversee the drilling of two wells.
Naipel in Turkana was the village identified for the first well. The villagers' and livestock's water came from a muddy watering hole, where various wiggling larvae swam. It went dry every day, so women and children in the village would walk for many miles to fetch water.
Between 2006 to 2008, four other wells were drilled.

The first well was a deep well in Naipel.
