WELLS

Women and children walked for many miles to fetch water.

Murky water containing various wiggling larvae are drank by the villagers.

Since 2006 one deep well and several shallow wells have been completed, with funds raised by individuals, churches and other organizations in the Cayman Islands. These villagers are now enjoying clean, fresh water.

Drilling of wells and building additional classrooms for the Primary School.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Primary School built in 2010 to replace a small, overcrowded classroom that housed 100+ students.  This population consist of orphans and underprivileged students and the school is able to provide them with standard education and a daily hot meal.

Funds to make sufficient desks to furnish the three classrooms was donated by Rotary Central, Cayman Islands.

With the completion of the Primary School the population of the village exploded which had a domino effect on the school, so additional classrooms are now required.

Orphanage

With the large population of orphans in Trukana there is a need for orphanages, as majority of these kids are being raised by their elderly grandmothers who for the most part are unable to properly care for them.

The orphanage has the capacity to house 24 kids and caretakers.

In 2013 with funds from a private donor an orphanage was constructed.
